Ingredients:
2 lbs chicken wings, split and tips removed
1/4 cup Bourbon Old Fashioned
3 tablespoons honey
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar (recommended Spirits & Spice Flavors are: Bourbon Balsamic, Mandarin Orange Balsamic, Blood Orange Balsamic, or Calamansi)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
Marinate the wings:
In a large bowl, combine whiskey, honey, balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken wings and toss to coat well. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, preferably 3-4 hours.
Preheat oven:
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top for the wings to crisp up nicely.
Prepare wings:
Remove wings from marinade (reserve marinade). Place wings on the wire rack in a single layer. Brush with olive oil.
Bake wings:
Bake for 25 minutes. Then, turn the wings and brush with some of the reserved marinade. Bake another 15-20 minutes until wings are cooked through and caramelized.
Glaze:
While wings bake, pour the reserved marinade into a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens slightly (about 5-7 minutes). This will be your glaze.
Coat wings:
Once wings are done, toss or brush them with the thickened glaze to coat evenly.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh parsley or sliced green onions for a fresh pop of color and flavor. Serve hot.
