Bessie Williamson was the first female owner/operator of a whisky distillery in Scotland. Heading Laphroaig, she was credited with breaking Islay malts out of the routine of being used almost exclusively in larger blended lines produced on the mainland. This Islay single cask pays homage to Mrs. WIlliamson. Waves of peat greet the nose with slight salted caramel undertones. Bright orange notes comingle with the classic sea salt and peat of Islay. The finish goes for miles and is rich in caramel and salt. Only about 190 bottles ever made!
