Why Buy Our Balsamic Vinegar?

Balsamic vinegar will add flavor and depth to anything you pour it on, or into, or dip it in. There’s a lot of choices out there but at Spirits & Spice, we have made sure what we offer is thicker, richer and adds real flavor.

Our balsamic vinegar is made from concentrated grape must, that is combined with a wine vinegar and then aged for depth of flavor and thickness. The viscosity of an aged balsamic should be perceptible; thick enough to a coat the back of a spoon. And while you're stocking your pantry, don't forget the other half of a great salad dressing; our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the perfect partner for any balsamic on this list.

Aceto Balsamico Oro, Vintage, and di Famiglia

Aceto Balsamico Oro is our basic balsamic: rich and bright-toned with a tinge of acidity from roughly eight years of aging. Reach for it on pizza, pasta, risotto, and really good tomatoes. The Oro (Italian for Gold) also stars in our Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze recipe and Sautéed Butter Balsamic Shrimp recipe.

Aceto Balsamico Vintage is the special balsamic that you reach for when you want something extraordinary: thick and sweet with notes of tangy raisins. It belongs on strawberries, tomatoes. Try our Berries & Balsamic Salad recipe using the Aceto Balsamic Vintage — make it for guests as a starter and bask in their praise.

Aceto Balsamico di Famiglia is for the truly special treat: sweet and balanced with a long finish and delicate dark chocolate notes; a drizzle is all you will need.

Pro TipBuy bigger, save more. Every one of these balsamics has a better price per ounce as the size increases. So go big to save more money.

Flavored Balsamics; the Dark and the White

Flavored balsamics can be made from dark balsamics or white balsamics. Dark Balsamics are made from red grape must. White Balsamics are made from white grape must. Dark Balsamics tend to be thicker and sweeter. And white balsamics are usually crisp and clean and slightly less thick than a dark balsamic.

Spirits & Spice offers more than 24 flavored balsamics. Each has its own place in our flavor pantheon and each offers a new way to add more flavor to your cooking. Which one you choose will depend of what you like to cook or what flavor you would like to add. One of my favorites is our Honey Ginger Balsamic which is a white balsamic. The Honey Ginger Balsamic is great on roasted sweet potatoes, or used with any of our Extra Virgin Olive Oils as a salad dressing. It is bright, gently sweet, with a ginger kick that wakes up fruit salads, slaws, and grilled seafood, poultry or pork.

Another favorite is our Hickory Balsamic. Our Hickory Balsamic is a dark balsamic that is thick, rich and smokey. It is great on a steak, and I frequently drizzle it on sandwiches and wraps. It is also a favorite on roasted veggies, grilled meats, marinades and home-made chili.

Want try a few balsamics in smaller bottles to see which ones you like the best? The Dark Fruit Balsamic Set (from $29.00) contains Mandarin Orange, Black Cherry, and Fig Balsamics, three dark and fruity balsamics to play with! The S&S Culinary Set (from $45.00) offers Aceto Balsamico Oro, Lemon Cucumber Balsamic, Raspberry Balsamic, and three olive oils; so another great way to find your favorite balsamic.

Here’s a few easy ways to use a flavored balsamic:

  1. Drizzle Hickory Balsamic on roasted Brussels sprouts;
  2. Stir Honey Ginger Balsamic into a carrot and raisin slaw; or
  3. Spoon Fig Balsamic over warm goat cheese.
